The man bun is done.
Shawn Mendes debuted a major chop on his Instagram Stories Thursday, ditching his quarantine ‘do in favor of a short cut.
“Goodbye long hair!!” the singer, 22, captioned his selfie, thanking celebrity stylist Anna Barnabe for the cut.
The shorter style comes days after Mendes’ girlfriend Camila Cabello showed her love for the man bun, gushing on Instagram, “my Valentine’s got a ponytail!”
In October, the “Wonder” singer told Smallzy that what started out as a longer “COVID cut” quickly became his new ‘do once Cabello, 23, said she liked it.
It’s the end of an era for Mendes’ flowing locks, which reached a new level of fame when the star posted a shirtless snap captioned with a list of his favorite things, including “old Mariah Carey songs.”
Carey hilariously recreated the post last month, styling her hair in a braid instead of copying the heartthrob’s updo.
While it remains to be seen whether the shorter haircut will cut it with Cabello, one thing’s for sure: Mendes won’t need as much of his go-to styling product, Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream ($34), anymore.
