Nobody does it like Naomi Campbell.
The legendary supermodel, 50, posed topless at her home in Kenya for i-D Magazine’s Spring 2021 cover, wearing nothing but black Same Swim briefs and a Carnival-inspired feathered headpiece from Maximilian.
Inside the issue, Campbell models more dramatic looks, including a 3D floral frock by Melitta Baumeister, a Dior Haute Couture cape, a Vaquera swimsuit and a color-blocked Christopher John Rogers catsuit covered in crystals.
“I felt proud, humbled and happy to be part of a shoot with young creatives that are all my skin color, and that I’m getting to work with them after so many years of being in fashion industry,” the catwalker said of the shoot, which was photographed by Luis Alberto Rodriguez and styled by Carlos Nazario, with Jawara behind Campbell’s hair and Bimpe Onakoya handling makeup.
“It’s very rare that this has happened to me. Luis is the third photographer of color I’ve worked with in my whole career in fashion,” she added.
Campbell also spoke about the experience of shooting the cover at her home base in Kenya.
“When you see these images, I hope you see that Kenya is beautiful, that Africa is beautiful,” she said. “I think people now are going to really open their minds and start to understand that real beauty is in Africa. There are so many gems, so many hidden secrets. I’ve been coming here since 1994 and I’m still discovering things.”
