Vanessa Bryant made her dissatisfaction with one of Meek Mill’s recent bars known this week. In case you missed it, Meek Mill referenced Kobe Bryant’s January 2020 helicopter crash in one of his lastest songs alongside the chart-topping rapper, Lil Baby.
Meek Mill, love him or hate him, has found himself the subject of social media scrutiny on a number of fronts, including his confrontation with Tekashi 6ix9ine a few weeks back. This past week, Meek said in one of his songs that he would “go out with my choppa” like Kobe.

Vanessa responded by saying the line was “disrespectful” and “insensitive,” also stating that she wasn’t familiar with his music at all, adding that he could do better via her IG Story.
Vanessa went on to say that it was “fine” if he was a fan, but there is a better way to show one’s admiration and respect. As a result of this short engagement, Meek and Vanessa soon became a trending topic on the internet.

Meek Mill wrote on his account that he didn’t know what everyone was talking about, adding, “I don’t see what y’all see.” The rapper went on to say that he is a “beast” who feeds on the social media hatred from other people.
According to Hot New Hip Hop, the tweets were picked up by The Shade Room and other people began to talk about it, including Erica Banks, who stated that the rapper should “just be quiet,” while others told him to apologize for it.
As it was previously reported, Kobe Bryant died at the start of 2020 in a helicopter crash that killed not only him but also his daughter and many of his friends. It was a tough start to what became a very tumultuous year in 2020 considering the coronavirus pandemic as well as the Black Lives Matter protests.
Either way, this wouldn’t be the first time a rapper came under fire for referencing the death of someone in the culture. For instance, Tekashi 6ix9ine was put on blast for the same thing, although, the way he alluded to King Von appeared to be more disrespectful on purpose.
